Can Grok Bot Make App Store Screenshots?

It can research competitors, draft 3–7 word captions, and even click around a browser. It cannot be the source of the in-app UI, and it does not ship a store-accurate export pack. Here is the split that survives review.

Quick answer

Can Grok Bot make App Store screenshots?

Grok Bot can draft screenshot captions, tear down competitor frames, and operate a browser on its cloud computer. It should not generate the product UI inside those frames. App Review Guideline 2.3 requires screenshots to show the current app in use. The durable workflow is: capture from the binary, let Grok Bot propose overlay text, then export exact App Store and Google Play sizes from a screenshot maker such as AppGrowthKit.

  • Captions, research, and localization drafts: yes
  • Invented dashboards, fake data, generated chrome: no — Guideline 2.3.1 / 2.3.3
  • Exact 6.9″ and Play 1080 exports: use a screenshot product, not a general agent
  • Grok Bot may open a web screenshot tool; you still supply the real captures
  • Device frames and overlays are allowed; they are not a substitute for the app in use

The viral question is whether an always-on agent can skip Figma. For listings, that question hides two jobs. Job one is words and research. Job two is a PNG that matches the binary at a required pixel size. Grok Bot is built for job one. Treating it as job two is how teams get pretty, untrue product pages.

Apple’s Guideline 2.3 does not mention Grok Bot. It does mention accurate metadata, the app in use, and staying up to date. An agent that paints a plausible tab bar is still 2.3.1 if that tab bar is not in the build.

What Grok Bot is good at on a listing

Split listing work between the agent and the screenshot tool
TaskGrok BotAppGrowthKit (or equivalent)
Competitor first-three teardownYes — overnight, in a browserNo — not its job
Caption drafts (3–7 words)Yes — with a “no invented screens” rulePlace and typeset on the frame
Background, device frame, layoutRisky as the source of truthYes — that is the product
In-app UICapture only; never generateWrap the capture, do not replace it
Export 6.9″ / iPad / Play sizesNot a spec engineYes — store-ready ZIP

If the deliverable is a Connect upload, the last two rows decide the tool. The agent can help; it should not be the PNG factory.

The workflow that does not get rejected

  • Capture 3–8 filled screens from the binary you will submit. Recapture after Liquid Glass if the chrome changed — Liquid Glass screenshots.
  • Run a caption prompt from Grok Bot prompts that lists those screens by name.
  • Human pass: no prices in the PNG, no fake ratings, paid features marked. Checklist: screenshot rejection guide.
  • Drop captures into AppGrowthKit, paste captions, export every required size.

If you already have a chat-only AI workflow, it is the same split described in how to make App Store screenshots with AI. Grok Bot only changes where the research can run — on a computer that stays on.

Can the Bot operate AppGrowthKit for you?

Grok Bot can use many websites, including tools without a dedicated API. The FAQ also says sites may block automation, demand a new login, or throw a CAPTCHA, and that the Bot should hand those to you. Even if it drives the editor, you must still upload honest captures. An agent clicking Generate on empty artboards is the same 2.3 miss with extra steps.

Agent-assisted screenshot set in one sitting

  1. Capture from the binary

Filled states. No splash, no empty inbox, no debug menu the reviewer lacks.

  2. Ask Grok Bot for captions only

Provide the list of screens. Forbid new screens. Ask for 3–7 word overlays.

  3. Strip illegal type

Prices, competitor marks, unverifiable awards, “for kids” unless you are in Kids.

  4. Compose and export

AppGrowthKit for frames, backgrounds, and exact sizes. Upload the ZIP to Connect yourself.

Grok Bot and screenshots

Can Grok Bot screenshot my app from a simulator?

If it has access to that environment, it might capture something. You are still responsible for that capture matching the submitted binary. Most indie teams are faster capturing locally and dropping files into AppGrowthKit.

Can it resize to 1320×2868 for me?

It might produce a file at some size. A screenshot maker that already encodes current required sizes is the lower-risk path. See the screenshot size reference.

Is AI on screenshots allowed at all?

Yes for layout, backgrounds, and caption drafts around real UI. No for inventing the product. Apple did not ban AI; they banned inaccurate metadata.

What about Google Play?

Play also wants screens that demonstrate the actual in-app experience. The honesty test is the same. Play’s four-screenshot recommendation is a separate spec post.

Should I put “Made with Grok Bot” on the frame?

No. It wastes caption space and is not a customer outcome. Keep the overlay about the job the searcher came to do.
