Grok Bot Prompts for AppGrowthKit Listings

Prompts that treat Grok Bot like a contractor: closed-ended ASO research and caption drafts you paste into AppGrowthKit — plus hard stops so it never invents app UI or publishes to Connect.

Quick answer

What prompts work well with Grok Bot for App Store work?

Give Grok Bot a role, a forbidden-actions list, a closed-ended artifact, and sources it may use. Good prompts return tables of competitor captions, subtitle options under 30 characters, and localization expansion flags. Bad prompts say “make my screenshots” or “update App Store Connect.” After the draft, a human checks claims and AppGrowthKit places the text on real captures.

  • Role + forbidden actions + artifact beat a vibe prompt
  • Ask for tables and character counts, not “make it pop”
  • Never ask it to generate the in-app UI
  • Never ask it to click Save in App Store Connect on day one
  • Paste survivors into AppGrowthKit around real screens

Grok Bot will take a vague job further than a chat model. That is the risk. A prompt that says “handle ASO” is an invitation to log into Connect, invent a dashboard, and spend the weekly usage pool. The prompts below are written like contractor briefs: artifact in, production out.

Paste the standing rules into the Bot description once. Reuse the task prompts. Fit every string in the ASO character counter before it touches a store form. Caption theory: what to write on screenshots.

Prompts that end in AppGrowthKit

Every good prompt in this pack should produce a table or a short list you can paste onto real screens. When the draft is honest, open AppGrowthKit, drop in captures, and export store sizes. If the prompt asks the Bot to “make the screenshots,” rewrite it.

Standing rules for the Bot description

Put this in the Bot profile, not only in one chat
You are an ASO researcher for a shipping mobile app.
Return files and tables. Do not send email, post on social, purchase anything, or delete files.
Do not log into App Store Connect or Google Play Console unless I paste a one-time explicit OK.
Do not generate or edit screenshots of the product UI. Captions and research only.
If a site shows a CAPTCHA, 2FA, or a paywall, stop and hand it to me.
When you cite a competitor screenshot, describe what you saw; do not recreate their UI as ours.

Research prompts

Competitor first-three teardown
Job: teardown only. Do not contact anyone.
For the US App Store search query "{query}", identify the top 3 relevant apps (skip our bundle id {id}).
For each, record: app name, subtitle, what screenshot 1/2/3 show, the overlay text if readable, and the promise in one sentence.
Return a markdown table. Flag any screenshot that looks like splash/login-only art.
Keyword intent, not a dump
Propose 20 US English App Store keywords for {app one-liner}.
Group them: high intent, adjacent, vanity (drop these).
Do not exceed 100 characters total for the keyword field including commas.
Explain two keywords we should not use because they describe a feature we do not ship.

Copy prompts

Subtitle options under 30 characters
Write 12 App Store subtitle options for {app}. Max 30 characters each.
Lead with the user outcome, not the category noun.
No trademarked competitor names. No "best" or download counts.
Mark any option that would need a screenshot to prove it.
Screenshot captions, 3–7 words
Write captions for a 5-frame App Store set.
Frame 1: the job the searcher came to do.
Frame 2: the mechanism.
Frame 3: the proof or repeatable habit.
Frames 4–5: secondary jobs, still benefit-led.
Each caption 3–7 words, readable at search-thumbnail size.
Our real screens are: {list of actual screens we captured}.
Do not invent screens we did not list.

Localization and Play

Expansion-aware localization
Translate these screenshot captions into {es-MX / de-DE / ja-JP}.
Keep the same promise. Flag any line that grows more than 30% or that uses a formal voice we did not ask for.
Do not redesign layout. Return a table: EN, target, character count, expansion flag.
Play short description
Write 8 Google Play short descriptions for {app}, max 80 characters.
Same outcome as the App Store subtitle, different wording so we can A/B.
No emoji unless I ask. No unsubstantiated #1 claims.

After translation, rebuild frames so type actually fits. That workflow is how to localize screenshots, not a Bot export.

Prompts to never send

  • “Generate our App Store screenshots.” → invented UI.
  • “Log into Connect and upload.” → 2FA, review, and irreversible metadata.
  • “Make it look like Grok Bot’s listing.” → trademark and 2.3.10 problems.
  • “Add 4.9 stars and 10M downloads on the frame.” → unless that is documented and allowed, it is a lie.

When the copy is done, open AppGrowthKit and place it on the captures you already listed in the prompt. That is the conversion step the prompt was written to reach.

Run a prompt pack without burning the week’s usage

  1. Paste standing rules into the Bot

Once per Bot, not once per chat.

  2. Run teardown, then copy, never both in one foggy brief

Two short jobs cost less than one wandering overnight session.

  3. Count characters

Title, subtitle, keywords, Play short description — use the counter, not the Bot’s arithmetic.

  4. Export from real UI

AppGrowthKit for frames. Bot for words.

Grok Bot prompt questions

Should I put rules in the chat or the Bot description?

Both, but the description is the standing contract. xAI says Bots keep role context. Do not rely on a buried sentence in an old thread.

Can I ask it to open AppGrowthKit in the browser?

You can. Still require approval before any publish, and do not let it generate replacement app UI inside the canvas. You remain the source of the captures.

Why not one mega-prompt?

Computer-use jobs spend usage. A mega-prompt wanders. Split research and copy so you can stop after the table.

Do these prompts work in ChatGPT too?

The copy ones do. The computer-use assumptions (keep working overnight, stop on 2FA) are Grok Bot-specific. See Grok Bot vs ChatGPT.

Can it write in my brand voice?

After a few jobs it may pick up preferences. Seed it with three captions you already shipped and say “match this density, not this joke.”
